how do uk if an amp can be wired to .5

what determins if an amp can be wired down to .5 or lower is it more on the amp its self or is it more on if your electrical can handle it.

for example an ap1800 could an amp like that be wired down to .5 with proper electrical to back it up?

If the amp is not rated at .5 ohm, then don't try it. At least if your not experienced.

Some amps go into protect when it the impedance is lower than it is rated...others like sundown and AQ won't do this, and onlly go into protect when the current draw is too much, or the amp overheats. Best thing to do is test it out and see...and use a DMM also to verify your true impedance after box rise.

Basically the amp itself. If the board was not designed to run at a certain impedance, chances are it will either go into protect or burn itself up. This is no different than an amp rated at 2 ohms wired to 1. Even if you have the electrical to back it up, its still going to burn.
