jreese92
Noob question, but I don't know what a voltage drop is, can someone explain to me what happens when a voltage drop occurs, this would help me decide on how far to upgrade my charging system. blownengine
Voltage drop is how far your voltage.... well..... drops! So lets say at idle your car sits at 14.4 volts. Then you crank your subs and the voltage DROPS to 13. Then your voltage drop would be (14.4-13) or 1.4 volts. jreese92
Yea thats obvious, but what are the consequences of a voltage drop Quote Pioneer 6300ub Rockford Prime 6.5's Pioneer 6x9's Alpine MRP-M500 10" Alpine Type R 1.4 Cubic Foot Enclosure Tuned to 34 hz Stinger 4 Gauge Wires

Yea thats obvious, but what are the consequences of a voltage drop I did exactly what you asked. I explains what happens Consequences are losing power. With less voltage you amps produre less power. And if your voltage drops low enough, like below 12, you can do some serious damage to your amps. memphisBred
Less voltage = less output = harder on equipment, etc. Low enough voltage sends amps into protect. Not a whole lot of good comes from voltage drop. Quote SMD Super Seller/Buyer Audison----Hertz----Rainbow

If the drop isnt severe and the amps arent wired low, youd save $$ on electrical without having any economic consequences Quote On 5/8/2011 at 7:38 PM, Kranny said: On 5/8/2011 at 7:35 PM, 'Maxim' said: It hurts me inside when I read stuff like this and remember you're 15 LMFAO so true Mitsubishi 3000GT (Old Build) Headunit: Pioneer 80PRS Frontstage: (2) McLaren Audio MLT-2 Tweeters & (4) PRV Audio MR Series Neo 6.5" Mids Substage: 4 15" Hybrid Subs - Tantric Motors & Sundown Softies Amps: Banda 2.4D Amp (Tweets), American Bass VFL 350.4 (Mids), and (2) Ampere 3800s Electrical :Singer 260A Alt & JY Power Lithium 2005 Chevy Colorado Ext Cab Headunit: Pioneer 80PRS Frontstage: 4 PRV 700Ti Tweets & 6 10" Delta Mids on 3000wrms Substage: 6 Fi BTL 18s in a 4th Order Walkthrough on 3 Wolfram 4500s Electrical: Singer "390" and JY Power My Official Feedback Thread
bignickk
doesnt voltage drop also make the amp clip more? or is that a myth? jreese92
ok thats what i wanted to wanted to know, i just wasnt sure if it affected the output of my amp, definitely gonna do the big 3 and get a new battery now Quote Pioneer 6300ub Rockford Prime 6.5's Pioneer 6x9's Alpine MRP-M500 10" Alpine Type R 1.4 Cubic Foot Enclosure Tuned to 34 hz Stinger 4 Gauge Wires
