LVL4JEEP
Hey, first post here. Right now I'm running a DC LVL 4 15 off of a T1000bd. I built my box using the Torres Box builder. My box is 6.2 cuft @ 29hz ~60in sq port after port and displacement of sub. Internal volume is 3.8cuft. Port witdth 3.25 and area per sqft abt. 14in. I have no clipping issues, thermal issues, ect. The sub sounds muddy playing music. Playing slowed music it will sound much better but I can hear it bottoming out sometimes (playing full tilt). Would shrinking the box size to about 3.0cu ft net and upping the tuning help? 32-34hz. Would it be more sutiable for a loud DD?? I've played with the tuning over and over but can't find a sweet spot. Before I had a box built for me. 3.3gross, 2.0net @ 33hz and it almost sounded like the sub was fighting against itself (poss distortion) it would heat up /stink almost instantly with anything below 50hz. Would a box way underspec cause thermal issues? I can play S&C music all day on this box and it hasn't even got hot. Thanks in advance. zayres29
6 cubes is way too big especially for a lvl 4 they like 3.5-4 cubes and what justification do you have for tuning at 29hz it should be something like 35 or so Edited April 28, 2011 by zayres29 Quote Btw that was the first person. OrionStang
3.2-3.4 cuft tuned to 34ish, and I would say 18-20 sqin of port per cube, just my opinion. I went to 29hz because I love lows, but I lost tons of output on normal music. Just expirmenting... I've built 3 boxes for this sub, I'm just trying to gain knowledge about boxes and the best way I learn is to just build them. I heard that 12-16 is rule of thumb.. Why so high? Just wondering what does that change??
