mmm nice thing you doing buying the heat gun, but honestly man,you didn´t flare it too much, try opening that thing way more!! :yahoo:

When i am out tomorrow i am going to look for a Larger bowl to flare it more. The way my box is set up if I flare it too much the ports will hit each other. I will take it out a little more, just need a better mold.

Maybe you could have a port a more inside of the box than the other one so the flares can fit, i tried that on a few testings i did, yes you mess with the airflow and lose some tenths doing that without the flares, but with them, you gain a lot more than not having flares at all :)

in your application...center port is FTL as far as you trying to get louder...also a slot port would probably be better in this instance then the makeshift aeros

James, can you explain why centering the port is FTL and why slot > aero? I just like understanding why. I would think with two subs centering the port would be best, but I know that dosnt mean it's right. Thanks

So, I bought a larger bowl and tried it again.... I might take them out a little more still, but this is how it came out.

Still a little uneven, but The flared end expands out to 8".. I ran out of time, and could not find any 6" Connecting rings. I did buy another 6' of 1/0 guage and some nuts and bolts to run the speaker wire through the back of the box. Amp will be relocated soon(I hope), and i will flare the inside of the ports first, until i can get more 6" PVC to make two more flares.

Did some more work. I have been to many plumbing places in the area to try to get some 6" PVC. Found it at only two places, Home Depot and Lowes. A 2' PVC was $5 cheaper at lowes, but it was green and labeled for sewage use. I dont care. :) Not a single place i found carries 6" connecting rings. But here are some pics

I needed two more flares (2 inside and 2 out)

Flared them out to 8"

For anyone thinking of doing this get a large bowl to start with. It is easier to make them come out nice and even.

Since 6" connecting rings are unavailible, I had to improvise. I took about a 2" scrap piece of the 6" PVC and cut a slit through it, and then fit it over the pipe and used it as a support for the flare and the port

Its a lil ghetto, but holds them in place nicely.

Later this week the amp should be moved to the back of the boxand the inside of the ports should be flared. I have already seen a noticeable gain moving the amp, and a lil more with adding the flares.

DUDE!!!! those flares look AWESOME if you ask me, is it louder to your ears now? that should have gained you a few tenths!!

About the "connecting rings" , i understood how you made them, but how does it get the connection without moving?? (fucking english lol) , i mean, you had to use some glue or anything?screws? or it´s just attached without anything else and it doesn´t move? great job!
