BeatBox Posted May 8, 2011 Report Posted May 8, 2011 (edited) im in the process of changing my alt in the integra....biggest pain in the ass BTW 1st question i had and got answered was the size of the belt it was the same so didnt have to change the size. got everything bolted down and running, BUT NOW I HAVE ANOTHER PROBLEM Voltage before was 14.1 now it is is 13.5, when i hit the gas theres NO noises from the belt slipping (annoying squealing) but the voltage stays the same, it does spike for a second (maybe from the belt getting tight for a second) but then it stays at about the same 13.5 that it was. Also since its dark i can see my lights(bumper lights on but not as bright as they should be) they get brighter for that second and dim back down. What could it be? i double checked everything Ane help would be appreciated...thanks! Edited May 9, 2011 by BeatBox Quote
speedball1978 Posted May 8, 2011 Report Posted May 8, 2011 the original belt should be fine.. there are reasons the new alt has smaller pulley on it... more output at idle.. Quote
BeatBox Posted May 8, 2011 Author Report Posted May 8, 2011 alright, ill give it a try. ill post back with an update in a few..hrs lol Quote
08tahoe Posted May 8, 2011 Report Posted May 8, 2011 when i got my h/o alt the stock belt was supposed to fit also, and it did but it made this weird noise when i put the car in gear cause it was loose. so i got a new belt that was half an inch shorter and that one was perfect. you might just have to try your stock belt and go from there Quote
blownengine Posted May 8, 2011 Report Posted May 8, 2011 A smaller pulley will make it spin faster which equals more power. The tensioner should take care of the extra slack. If not then measure and get a new belt. EclipseChris Posted May 8, 2011 Report Posted May 8, 2011 You may even want to swap the pullies, If the alt is for another engine then that other engine may be including AC or Power Steering which would explain the smaller size. If the pulley is smaller for better low end output then there is potential for high RPM damage. Call the alt company to confirm. Quote i resolve to be a nicer moderator. Tercel build R.I.P.
