DannyB
Ok so in the past I just install the speakers and dial in 80hz on the amp and 80hz on the head unit. I had an installer tell me the other day 80hz is too low and to go between 150 and 200hz. (These are full range speakers I have now) I am installing new Polk Audio MM6501's Wednesday. I emailed Polk to inquire about this and they recommend the same 80hz. Anyone have an answer on the difference between the two recommendations? Is it a difference in the full range compared to component set? I also have a pair of Focal component that I was told to cross at 80hz. What is working for some of you guys? Parentnoia
Well I'd think of it this way. My amp doesnt have a variable crossover. I just flip a switch to turn crossover on an off. And the cutoff is 80hz. So I dont really have much choice in that department. But it must be an acceptable level if someone went ahead and set that anyways. 1999 GMC Suburban SLTNo system planned just yet. Look at "hate" spelled backwards. It spells "e-tah." For example, if you hate me you can e-tah dick.
DannyB
I will use the recommended 80hz from Polk Audio unless someone here can explain to me why some people would cross at 150-200hz. Rev. Wrath
I'm currently running Alpine Type R components, and I have mine crossed at 80 as well. They sound great and I've never had an issue with this setup. The only reason, that I can see, you would ever have to cross at 200 is if you had separate mid-bass drivers.
