Help with Kenwood KDC-X493

is there any way to tell if a head unit is bad?? all of my mids and highs are crackaling. and i know for a fact the speakers are still good. so is there a way to test to see if my headunit is bad?

all of the wires at the back of the headunit are still connected. and yes i am using a RF 300.4, and i have checked the ground, the power, and remote wire and RCAs on that and they all look good to me. and the gains are not even half way up..
