So I tore my car apart yesterday to relocate my battery from under the hood to the trunk. It really cleans up under the hood, which is why I plan on moving the pdb out from under the hood too. Anyways, I'm at work bow with the only thing in my car being the driver seat so I can work on her since I'm off all weekend. Battery is in the trunk and need to wire up my amps back there too. My dilemma is I am not sure how to go about building a false floor to mount the amps and battery and eventually sub box.

I'm on my iPhone right now and don't have 3G Internet so trying to search through a thousand build logs to find examples isn't very productive. This is going in a 98 civic and was looking for suggestions or examples of how you trunk guys did it. The battery is just wedged in there and not mounted, so it will be fine until I can build something to mount it to Friday since I'm off. Thanks for any help guys. :drinks:

the last log i looked at the guy used little shims until it was even and then layer of 2x4's and on top of that 1 layer of mdf or birch and on top of that the sub enclosure, this was a floor for the backseat.

Seems like that would add alot of height that I can't afford to lose in the trunk. Was that for the base of a wall in the backseat, or to hide wiring and amps and such.

A 'false floor' may not be what I'm looking for...I basically need something to bolt the batteries and amps to. Eventually I will have a battery bank in the spare tire well probably.

In the trunk or in the cabin?

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?

It's going in the trunk. The plan is once stocks are in, order a dc 15" or an aa mayhem and do a 15 sealed off from trunk firing forward with amps mounted on a stepup rack behind the sub box and the batteries mounted probably in the spare wheel well or in the corners of te trunk. What do I need to build to mount all of this in the trunk? Is a false floor what I'm looking for? How do you guys ever get to your battery bank?

I know these are probably stupid questions, but it helps me work through this in my was if that makes sense. Haha

Also, since I have no battery up front, where would be the best place to ground? Right now the battery is grounded on a spot right behind where the rear seats go. Sanded off all the paint there and such. I tried the strut tower bolt, but my ring terms don't fit it.

Also, when I run multiple alt runs to my bank, do I need to run extra grounds to my trunk grounding spot?

Btw, I hope this is in the right section. Being somewhat about enclosures, I figured it would be the best place...

i drilled my ring terminals out to fit what i needed, but i made sure that it was still sturdy enough to hold a good connection

Legal TL scores145.6 on the dash sealed up in the low 40hz area with the port out145.5 on the dash sealed up @30hz with the port inless then 1k clamped on a 3.5k!

Why would you EVER WANT flex?
huh?...flex is what can make the lows lower and more air being pushed correct?

Pick up a step drill bit and make the rings fit. Its one of those tools that saves time and makes many things easier a very good $10 to spend

while ur drilling out the ring use pliars sp? to hold the ring terminal not your fingers. if the the bit grabs the ring its a pain on the hands, holding it will work i thought id just save ya some pain :P
