Looking into building a new box for my Type R 12's. Got a KX1200.1 coming to run them, but right now they're off a KX800.4.

I'm thinking:

15hx18dx36w

3 4" ports at 24" (bent obviously)

Should come out to 3.8@30hz.

Good idea? Bad? I listen to a lot of low stuff so I want to have that bottom end, hence the low tuning.

Too many projects, too little time...

I reran it and got the same as before.

I'm using Torres' box calc if that helps.

Someone on another forum keeps telling me I should go sealed "for the best lows."

36x18x15 = 4.45ft^3 before displacements.

(pi*r^2)24/1728 for each port = ~.2ft^3

times three for three ports - .59ft^3

So right there you're at 3.86ft^3 before sub displacement, which should be in the .1-.12ft^3 range per sub. All in all it looks like 3.6ft^3 with a 33hz tuning.

I'm a guy that always runs sealed up to the last year and a half and I can tell you that I get much lower being ported.

I running mine in a slightly smaller box than recommended. 1.4 instead of 1.5 NET, tuned at 32Hz and I couldn't be happier, Great response and output plus I can do hair tricks :)

lower tuning is just hard. I was surprised how loud 145 sounds at 35hz, and how quiet 145 sounds at 50hz.

I would shoot for something between 35 and 38 hertz.

That seems to be good for both rock and rap IMO.
