dog24fret Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 I have a audio tool app for my iPad.This app has spl meter(digital & analog),rta,scope,thd meter,delay and phase.There is more but this should give some idea what this has.Yes I know Steve's listener is simpler but don't have the funds right now.The app is called Audiotools v3.2. Has anyone use this app. I have and am using it for live sound and church.I am trying to use it to go through my van settings.When I noticed the scope and analyzer was over sensitive on clipping.I shut the door and I'm clipping.Have no problems with the frequency accuracy so far.Any help on where to adjust the settings for car audio will be appreciated a lot .Still want Steves DD but gotta use what I got. If you look back on some of my posts, if its still in my history, i once started this same thread. If I recall correctly, some guy explained the iPhone cant pick up bass notes too good, so basically any SPL meter is trash. Secondly, would you really wanna trust your equipment to something other than an o-scope or the distortion detector? Just as it is going to have 100x more accurate results being direct fed than being over the air such as through a mic. What if you cough ? Does it pick up clipping. Id save up for the DD if you can. If not you would be better off tuning it at a shop. dog24fret Posted June 15, 2011 Author Report Posted June 15, 2011 Yea I've learned that in spl the iPad speaker has limited response.The mid to high is dead on in both environments.But bass response is good in live but hard to control in the van.Mid to high is nearly flat but bass unless near off is outa control.That's why I figuerd to ask to see if y'all might have used it.Is the delay and phase meters good on this cause if it is.I got redesigning to do.What about the amplitude sweep and the room Impulse meters do anygood in car audio.I am in the works to get the DD-1.Already have 2 iPads with the audio tools on them.They where used for live music and recording.So figured I might use them for my systems to get the best I can out of them.Thanks guys for the imput on this. dog24fret Posted June 15, 2011 Author Report Posted June 15, 2011 Where would I get that at.As I don't go to any comps or know anyone down here who dose.The only problem with using my ears is that I only hear out of one.My left ear don't have a nerve connecting to my brain.So when I set up stageing I do it to the point where when I move my head around I hear no differance or location.Sometimes leads to out of phase and underpowered amps.My curent hearing range is 1/3 octave lower 1 full octave higher than normal or average hearing.
