mike123d Posted June 16, 2011 Report Posted June 16, 2011 I'm having some troubles finding a way to fit a decent size ported box in the back of my 94 firebird. I have enough space to make a 2 cube ported box but that wont cut it. I don't think that's adequate space for my setup. I will be running one HD12 American Bass d1 on an American Bass XD1800 I have the 12" in a sealed box now but it just doesn't cut it for me. Has anyone made a ported box for one of these F bodies before? This setup wired to .5 ohms will be <1500Rms for daily so that's why I don't want to go sealed. If anyone can say anything good about staying sealed instead, I would like the input. Ive seen all of the pre-fab boxes so please don't recommend them to me, I'm looking for plans for a ported box. If you guys think that the sub would be alright with under 2 cubes of ported space let me know. I've never done anything less than spec

nismo923 Posted June 17, 2011 Report Posted June 17, 2011 Why couldn't you use the whole deep well? I have a '93 Camaro and plan on doing a ported box also. I plan on making the top part use the Q Logic plastic piece that I have and running about a three cube box under it. I am pretty sure you can get away with three cubes if you use the whole well. rubbernutz1 Posted June 17, 2011 Report Posted June 17, 2011 use the rear well where it drops off behind the rear end. u can make a box big enough for that 1 12" back there ported. plus the bass will load off the rear window. i had 2 15"s back there in my 91 in an under sized sealed box and it was loud as shit so i know you can git 1 12" in there ported

In a few weeks I will be starting the tub for my single 15 box in the back of a 94. Going to us a flared PVC port in mine to save airspace. Dont know if im glassing the whole thing or just part of it. The top section will probably be all glass work. Cant wait to get started on it.
