Arsaces
The length isn't everything you need the right amount of port area for proper tuning. Maybe I am misunderstanding, but I thought that the port calculator handled all that? You give it 2 numbers and a frequency and it spits out a length? Is there more to it than this? Maybe sometime down the line I will remake the box, I will definitely make the tuning a bit lower, and the port a bit bigger, probably use a circular port. Supercharged DCs
It handles what you tell it to handle. It won't make the perfect box, hell it won't give any numbers out without you putting some in. How big is your port mate? Looks to be 10sqin Quote Bassless once again. Louisiana Bass
The calculator calculates tuning frequency, but when building boxes, you want 14-17 sq inches per cube. Arsaces
The port is 7*1*6, I gave it the width and height as well as tuning frequency and it gave me the length, did I do something wrong?
Arsaces
The box is 1.4 cubes btw
Supercharged DCs
That's 7sqin of port. Like 5sqin per cube... God damn lol. When you decide to rebuild the box, try and triple the port area mate I'd also recommend tuning a tad lower. Quote Bassless once again. Arsaces
Will do, thank you for the advice. Out of curiosity, what does having a small port area effect in terms of sound?
Louisiana Bass
Wont put out as much pressure, and I believe it can choke the sub. Quote N8. No homo...unless you want there to be.
Arsaces
Good thing I posted this up, you don't really learn if you don't try, eh? Having the sub in this enclosure won't damage it right? Just won't sound as good as it could?
KillaCam
Good thing I posted this up, you don't really learn if you don't try, eh? Having the sub in this enclosure won't damage it right? Just won't sound as good as it could? It could damage the sub. But yeah it's good you posted this, the best way to learn is by making mistakes and learning from them. Just never make the same mistake twice!
