Reconing my xl

Recommended Posts

Lay bead of CA on spider landing drop recone in, shim it clamp spiders spray activator

Wait like 20min , unclamp spider, lay a bead of CA glue for surround , then clamp surround (with shims still in coil) spray activator

Wait for about 20min again then pull shims out and glue on dustcap, let dry for a few hours then go play it!

Ive always used CA Glue for complete woofer build ups (spiders to basket, surround to basket, dust cap to cone, spiders to former, cone to former) pretty much the only glue I use to do a recone without issues also.

The only time I use a rubber glue is when reconing a Digital Designs with a carbon fiber dustcap.

However, all CA Glue is not foam safe and may eat/burn your surrounds, so getting a good CA glue is a most.

if u use the ca glue on the surround its gonna be a bitch to spry the activator on it and git it in place in time b4 the glue sets. its just way easier to use the rubber cement. it takes longer to set up but hey whats 1 more day when you dont got no bump to begin with lol :pardon: but since this is your 1st recone id recomend using the rubber cement cus of the longer set time

you dont have to use accelerator. letting the glue dry naturally always seemed to me to make a better bond. not that that matters, ive never seen glue hit with accelerator fail on a subwoofer.

use the ca glue or rubber glue on the surround. it really wont matter. ive used both. ca is more common.

If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.
