teamace24 Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 I built a dual 15 sub box 7 cubic feet net tuned at 34-35hz. I installed two kicker cvx 15 in the box but they sound like they want more air, it tends to have a fart type sound when playing the higher notes or when i turn the epicenter up for spanish. I have built many boxes and with great results but this is the smallest box i have ever built for two 15 subs, so im guessing this is why they sound like they do not want to go deep and have a fart type sound. Question is since i like the box quality and build, what subs will perform optimally in about 3.5 cubes tuned at 35hz? I have a budget of around $350-400 and 1500 rms total of power, so im looking for the subs to handle 750-1000 rms. homiewes Posted June 26, 2011 Report Posted June 26, 2011 well you should build the box to the subwoofer specs, sounds like you need to rebuild a box for those subs.. i wouldnt stick any other sub in there.. unless your planning on buying new subs then its worth a try to see if it sounds good. I agree why wouldn't just scrap the box and build another more close to the specs of the subs u already have a box is much easy/cheaper to replace than a new set of nice subs www.wooferwarehouse.com
teamace24 Posted June 26, 2011 Author Report Posted June 26, 2011 My clarion eq i noticed was at 90hz low pass so i put it to 50hz and it helped a lot with the farting which was mostly there with the higher notes. Ive tweaked everything and im more satisfied overall with the sound it pounds but i think since each sub is getting only 3.5 cubes, songs like killa cam with camron tend to lack a little bass when it hits. I increase the 50hz knob on the eq and it helps a bit but i think overall i should of went atleast 4 cubes each.
