GroundPounderz Posted July 5, 2011 Report Share Posted July 5, 2011 im going to be puting a 5000-6000 watt system in my 95' tahoe and i was wondering if i needed to upgrade my alternator or not. i did the math and its gonna draw about 380-390 amps and i was wondering if i could just add a battery or what id have to do. oh btw this system is gonna be for daily use and id like to be able to run it for quite a while 1 1/2- 2 1/2 hours without turning the rig on to charge. what do i need? dkindle613 Posted July 5, 2011 Report Share Posted July 5, 2011 you will need an upgraded alt or 2 plus at least 3 or 4 good batteries to even run 5000-6000watts with your Tahoe running. and i don't even know if you can run 5000-6000 watts for that amount of time on just battery power, but if you can, you will need A lot more batteries. Or you can make a 500 alternators system with a couple thousand batteries. I just don't know where you'd put them all? Lol Quote so far...
