chevy_69k20 Posted July 7, 2011 Report Posted July 7, 2011 Hey guys, I just installed a pioneer avh-p4300dvd in my 2010 silverado and everything works great, except the steering wheel controls. I used the pac os-4 to hook the head unit up and the pac steering wheel control interface because it was just plug and play (besides programing it) and I didn't have to splice any wires. Programing goes well and the led lights and goes out when it's supposed to while programing. My problem is that I programed the interface when the truck was running (around 14 volts) and now when the ac comes on (electric fans kick on) the voltage DROPS A LOT, right at if not less than 12 volts. It wouldn't be a problem except gm uses different voltages for the steering wheel controls and if the charging system is at 12 volts one min then 14.8 the next the steering wheel interface will see a HUGE range of voltages and not know what to do. Sorry for the long post, but will the big three fix this? This on a stock truck except for the head unit. I can't imagine what's going to happen when I install a system in the damn thing!

I have heard you can also turn the headlights on manually and that causing the pcm to regulate the alternator up to high 14.4 volts.
