question about precision port/aero port

Has anyone ever used the equation that precision port includes with the port tube kit to determine port length? I used the equation to figure out length on a 1.5 cuft box using a single 4" port. The calculations were for tuning the box to 32hz. It yielded a center section measurement of 6.77", overall port length assembled comes out to 12.77" to me this seems pretty close. I've always just started at full length and cut off 1" at a time and measured with term lab to find where it has the highest spl. But this was for straight competition. The box im working on now is for street beating, so i'm not looking for it to be "loud on the Mic" but rather "loud to the ear" so should I go with the formula or just cut them down little by little and just see what sounds best?

Curious as well, just got my 4 6" aeros in.

Bassless once again. Can't seem to keep a system for more than a few weeks :)

Saving for a '06 Nissan 350z, look for build around June 2012.

sorry for the delay in results, for the first couple of minutes of play time the box sounded pretty good, then it came apart at the seams. so i have to build another box and go from there. this box really was just a tester to see which direction i should go so i didnt build it the best. the next box will be more thoroughly built. only problem is that i dont know all of the mechanical numbers for the subs im using so box design has been a little bit of a guessing game. does 3 cubes per sub sound about right for xfl 15's? im also using 2 4" aeros per sub. it hits the higher notes really well but the low low end extension just isnt there. what do you guys think? more volume? less volume? more port surface area or less? any help is appreciated, wood isnt cheap lol

just downloaded the torres box tuning calculator, seems as though i not only need to go up in volume but also reduce to two 4" ports instead of 4. looks like im building a box next weekend. building this as a daily banger if i didnt already mention it
