Full size van

displacement volume "inches" 108L - 50H - 70W = (378,000 cubic inches)..oh what fun

I've heard that you would need to displace around 1/20th of the total volume to reach 150-155Db or so

That would make it 18,900 cubic inches.

trying to figure out how much cone/port area total that i would need, but my brain fried after seeing almost 400k cubic inches

anyone able to figure this problem out?

thinking 12x 12s at 3k watt "1500 rms" each, no idea on power yet

Sold the van in 2014, had it about 75% done, never did get the system in it. Bought a 2000 Chevy S10, still using the same amp/subs. Headunit is XO Vision X538. It's 52x4w, has a dvd player, auto flip out 7" touch screen plus alot more and is a single din.

Well first, divide by 1728 so it's in cubic feet.

c'mon now, if i was shooting an 8 year old, it wouldnt be MY 8 year old.

i recently got a Pyle PL1590BL and i was building an enclosure for it tuned to 25 hz. i didn't have any tools to cut a circle so i hit it with a big hammer.

there is no specific amount of cone area you need to get past 150db. if you want to be sure to get close to 155db, put four bad ass 18"s on 3kw each. should do the trick. it mostly comes down to your box but if you dont get past 153db with that setup, your box sucks lol.

If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.

10.9375 cubic feet to displace exactly how much power are we talking about, subs powered by lightning bolts lol? im on a budget of around $3500 for the entire setup "batteries, wire, everything"

hoping to go with 12s so i "might" still be able to listen to actual music also

Hoping to be 2 boxes with 6x 12s "3k watt 1500rms" through each speaker" box sizes would be right around 30x38x20 hoping for plenty of port space getting boxes custom 1 on each wall with hinges so they can swing out and lock together to make a full wall.

trying to go for SPL comps, car cruises etc do tricks with the big sliding door open. gotta move a TON of air

Had an estimate of 6400 for an alpine/clarion setup dealer said it "should" hit around 160db with the custom boxes he was going to make for me..doubtful with so much area to move but, budget is way below that :( any ideas on cheaper brands for that kind of Spl setup? really didnt want to try any Boss or soundstorm, thinking Quantum figure around $150 per speaker "$1800 total" and $1700 to power it, first actual big setup for the van.

the shop here walled a ford excursion with 10 p3 12's off of 2 t2500's it was a sealed wall and they hit 156.8db

word of mouth or real proof on a termlab?

i dont think you understand what a 155 takes. are you trying to do a wall?

18"s play music perfectly well. they play all the frequencies a 12" will play. its cool if you just like 12"s, i do, but if its for the reason that other sizes are not musical then you are just wrong.

just a rough idea of cost.

alt $500-600

batteries $300-400 each

subs $400-500 each

amps $1000-2000 depending on how much power you want

then all the wiring, terminals, fuse blocks, etc.

you can go with cheaper gear but i wouldnt with your specific goal. you're asking for top numbers, you need top equipment.

Ouch... sounds like im gonna need to dump about $15k into a system for it

well, not looking like i'll be taking the van to any Spl comps this year lol

Hmmm, what about Car cruises, just for doing tricks? something cheap "round $3500" that i can just have in there basically as a

"big air mover", can always use the Tracker for Spl
