need more power

Recommended Posts

I don't have the cash for a H/O alt for my 2002 mazda protege. What other alt could I use to get some extra power?

rewind your alt, save money, i mean if you end up getting a battery bank that could of been money for the alt, just sell some stuff, i always have something laying around that could go to craigslist :P

At the moment I have a car loan and a few credit cards to pay off. I'm just trying to see what other options I have beside paying $570 plus shipping for the h/o.

I don't know anything about the alt in your car, but find where the guys get CS, AD, or DR kits from and ask them about your alt. Odds are they have access to a kit for yours too. I would start by finding out which alt I had (is it Mazda only or is it one from Ford) and then do some research to see if Mazda used that same case in a bigger vehicle that put out more amps.

Another option is making a bracket to fit an AD244 alt or the like which are fairly cheap.

On a side note, props for taking care of your shit before making things worse by charging things up even more :drinks:

same here, got credit card bills and need new couple of amps and speakers. Just pay off credit card and car loan and then buy everything you need. Otherwise, you will be stuck with debt.

What amp(s) are you running? Could possibly get away with extra batt in the rear.

Wouldn't adding another battery put extra strain on an already strained alt?
