rickyfromthe407 Posted July 31, 2011 Author Report Share Posted July 31, 2011 Well. Busy last couple days. Got family coming home from the military and such after quite some time of being deployed. But I didn't fully waste the day. Managed to pick up a sheet of birch ( why so expensive ) lol. Got to drawing up a design for the amp rack, but working with real minimal space. Think I made up a pretty good design though. We will see how it works. Without drilling into my sub box makes it difficult. But I cut a few boards and 2x4s and slapped a rough idea together. Tomorrow I have plans to make the hour drive to civilization and buy some 12ga speaker wire, as well as predrill the holes for my subs ( I dont wanna remove the subs bunch of times so gonn keep it to a minimum ) drill the bolt holes for the speaker wire, also got to come up with an idea to hold the sub box in place. and then get a bit more work on the amp rack done. Will get more work on it in the morning. The about after lunch my days taken up with family plans. So hopefully I can get quite a bit accomplished by lunch tomorrow ! Stay Tuned! Yeah man I made a bit of progress, but its about 4:20 here and I gotta be somewhere at 5. Ill upload pics when I return home, I made a bit of progress on the amp rack, nothing like the pictures. But i think it will be the final design. I like it. and it feels sturdy! What made that happen I never had that issue. Smh. EDIT: F*#K ! Had to delete all the photobucket pics, rename them all. 1-# and then upload them to a new site a guy on the forum told me about imageshack.us and then repost all the things so now theyre all edited D: grr. it deleted some of my other pics. But I got it fixed.. It should be working good now. Hope this new site doesn't do the same Its now 2am, it took me 3 hours to do all that. My back hurts. But! Today wasn't a bust. Spent time with family, and hit up the surplus store. Got some Automotive Carpet and some 12ga speaker wire, also picked up some ring terminals for the bolts on the box. Pictures of that will come if not in the next 15 mins, will come tomorrow as well as pics of the amp rack! Its not done yet, but its getting there. Sweet. I changed my mind once I read the rules of SOTM - "no unfinished boxes" so I had to carpet it or paint it. Carpet is probably easier. Never done it before, but we will see how it turns out... rickyfromthe407 Posted August 3, 2011 Author Report Share Posted August 3, 2011 Day 10: Well guys, today was a GOOD day. Without any distractions, I got to work. Started out the morning by picking up a few things: 2'x4'x3/4" sheet of Birch, which I planned to use for the amp rack. Ring Terminals ( plenty for the speaker wire ) Automotive Carpet 4' x 15' AudioPipe brand...:msword:( will be using this to carpet the box ) original plan was not to carpet the box, but for SOTM its gotta be finished.. 12ga speaker wire ( picked up 20ft, should be plenty I am gonna keep runs as short as possible ) With materials in hand, I got to work. Shortly after a few rough sketches, I soon realized the 3/4" Birch would NOT be strong enough for the angle with no back brace. So I decided to grab some extra 2" x 4" s and run them through the wood plainer to make them nice and square and white. Then made a frame. Those LED's, if done right, SHOULD shine through the cast heat sink of the Rockford T2500-1bd if everything works out right. It has MANY modes, its the Knight Rider LED kit. But pretty much it has 7 colors and I think like 20 modes for each color. Itll do anything from strobe to flash to chase. If you put it on "flash" mode or whatever it is called, itll run about halfway with one color and switch to another color then go the other way. The half mark should be the half mark of the amp. So itll switch colors right behind the Rockford Badge. I think the lights are gonna really make it looks good! Just sitting in the car to see how it all fits. Looks like it fits perfect. I don't think I will see any problems with bracing.. Lets get to gluing! It sits on a 10 degree angle. Just slightly slanted, but not too much.
