zxsonnyxz
Just want to share one of my latest box builds, I hope it's okey even though it doesn't belong in any car yet It's undecided wheither I'll use it myself or if it's going in my buddy's car. This is a ~ 4.25 cuft box built for four Seas 8" woofers with a 6" port tuned ~32hz. Theese are low powered drivers at only a 100w each, but they should be pretty efficient. This isn't my very first time with fibreglass, but it's the first subwoofer box I've ever made that utilizes fibreglass. It IS however the first time I've tried to paint anything like this, so I'm quite happy with the outcome I'm lacking a bit on progress pics, but you get the idea from the ones i have. Here is most of the woodwork done: Here you can see I've screwed things togheter to maintain the right shape and placement while I stretch my fabric: Almost done here, added a few staples in the port to get full contact between the port and fabric so it would bond after the first coat of resin. I allways appreciate comments, more pics to come really soon STD Passat Build 151db+STD Omega BuildMitsubishi Colt Build - Alpine|Focal|PeerlessHome Stereo BuildSmall Tang Band build - 4" fullrangeBox for 4 8"My Saab 9000 Build- I'd be very happy if you cared to check out the logs and give feedback! zxsonnyxz
Might as well throw in a picture of my car Continuing on the box! So here I'm missing a lot of the progress as well, but this is after two layers of glass on the outside has been trimmed down. There's also several layers on the inside, that adds the real strenght. Here I've started to smooth things out with bodyfiller: Some sexier pics coming up in just a jiffy STD Passat Build 151db+STD Omega BuildMitsubishi Colt Build - Alpine|Focal|PeerlessHome Stereo BuildSmall Tang Band build - 4" fullrangeBox for 4 8"My Saab 9000 Build- I'd be very happy if you cared to check out the logs and give feedback! zxsonnyxz
nice box! Thanks Here's my buddy's car, you'll see why we are considering putting it in this one and also why I chose the color i did Here is the box after several rounds of filling, sanding, priming and a light coat of paint (not the same color as I finnished with): Now we're getting somewhere! This is the color i used: Ready for clearcoat at this point, this is where I was a little nervous as I felt the clearcoating would be the hardest part and I might fuck it up STD Passat Build 151db+STD Omega BuildMitsubishi Colt Build - Alpine|Focal|PeerlessHome Stereo BuildSmall Tang Band build - 4" fullrangeBox for 4 8"My Saab 9000 Build- I'd be very happy if you cared to check out the logs and give feedback! zxsonnyxz
Moving on After clear: You can see the groove where the carpet will sit to make a smooth transition. I feel satisfied with the results of the paintjob considering this was done with spraycans Then is't carpeting time: STD Passat Build 151db+STD Omega BuildMitsubishi Colt Build - Alpine|Focal|PeerlessHome Stereo BuildSmall Tang Band build - 4" fullrangeBox for 4 8"My Saab 9000 Build- I'd be very happy if you cared to check out the logs and give feedback!
