Well, your probably thinking the same thing I did, glue wouldn't be enough to hold the 20lb amp. So took a 5 more precautions. 5 countersunk screws in the bottom of it. Evenly spaced. Countersank, so it would sit FLAT on the false floor in the trunk. There is also 11 screwholes, all countersank. These are for mounting it to the false floor. I don't see this thing coming up, unless I were to hit a railroad track at 60.. even then, I don't see it happening. So now your wondering how the amps gonna sit there. Well. Biggest screws I can use for the amp are #8 nothing bigger fits through the stock mounting holes. So I had to use something better than a small screw. Figured I would use some T-Nuts. Only 4. Don't have the T-Nuts with me, got to pick some up at lowes tomorrow. But here is where they will be placed. Hard to get pics of them, but there's only 4 holes. All 4 will be T-Nutted. I don't see the amp coming off... Should be NICE and sturdy. Now that I think of it, when I go to pick up the T-Nuts I can take that 30$ sheet of birch back! rickyfromthe407 Posted August 4, 2011 Author Report Posted August 4, 2011 Day 11: Well guys, today started out great...and then USPS came by and ruined it ( keep reading ) but.. to make things better towards the end of the day, its only 8:15pm now, so I am gonna get back out there after I write this up. Had to take a break my back is killing me. D: Got up early, ran to Lowe's to grab some T-Nuts and screws etc to mount the amp. First trip to Lowe's of six today...oh its a 15 minute drive... T-Nuts set. Sub mount holes predrilled. Speaker wire bolts drilled and ran. This is where my day took a USPS came up my driveway and handed me a package. My MacBook Pro charger broke a few days ago, so I purchased a new one on eBay. Assuming this package was the charger for my mac that I havn't been able to use in a few days. I opened it. And this is what I received... Disgusted with the level of service I was shipped this item. I waited patiently 3 days for it, and it is broken. I have no use of my MacBook as of right now. I messaged the seller, and stated what happen and showed him the picture. Of course he will not take blame for it and claims the item was shipped as a whole and that I was the one who sliced the charger. That REALLY set me down, as I need my laptop for work. So let's hope this eBay thing works out..Thing is, I dont have time to wait for an eBay claim to be made... Anyways. Atleast I have a second desktop. To take my mind off that, I went back out and got to work. Wired up all the subs to 2ohm and set them in the box... ready to be screwed in! 32 screws later, these subs were not going anywhere. That's all for now. But after I post this, I am headed back out to the shop its only about 8:30pm. So I plan to work a few more hours and have the subs installed, amp installed, and possibly a video ( don't count on the demo ) But it is all coming together now. So stay tuned! scooter99 Posted August 4, 2011 Report Posted August 4, 2011 Did you just use screws for those subs? Or did you use T-nuts for them as well. If not, and you just used screws, I'd HIGHLY recommend T-Nuts. You'll never have a problem with T-nuts and bolts. You may have issues with screws and pulling out. Maybe not, but just saying. rickyfromthe407 Posted August 4, 2011 Author Report Posted August 4, 2011 I did not use T-Nuts for the subs. I started a thread about mounting them because I had thought the same thing. But all the replies said I would be fine. The subs are all upfiring compared to my old setup in which I should have used the T-Nuts but a lot of people said just use #10 pan head screws and I would be alright, so I picked up a box of them and they seemed to tighten up fine. I don't see anything happening unless I hit a railroad track at high speed or something...but I don't plan on it. We will see. The T-Nuts are a pain in the ass though. So I got outside, set up a table, and started hooking it up! Checked the battery, since I hadn't used it in about a good week. 12.8v is a good resting voltage after a week of not being used or charged. I might throw it on the charger for a few hours, but really don't think I need to. Amp 90% hooked up. and I had an idea... Read my other posts, the charger for my mac, had broke and I was shipped a broken one so now I had two broken ones... Hmm. Set my tools down and went out to the shop. 20 minutes and a bit of solder later. Bit of liquid electrical tape to secure the positive. Bit more electrical tape on the negative.. Let it dry and checked it out! I'll be damned! It worked! Charging up my MacBook as I speak. Good thing though, I spoke with the guy on eBay and he shipped me another one, so this will only be used for a day or two. But I am glad I got it to work while I was waiting for the USPS to ship me another one. Anyways, since I can only post 10 pics per post, I figured I would come update you guys on how the day is going. But now I am off to install the amp! More pics tonight! It's all coming together now! First, I rechecked the OHMs of my subs, just to make sure it was at 2ohms like I wired them... Score. We then attempted to tune the amp with the O-Scope.. Please watch the video and give me your opinions... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ai8tn-QcfzU As stated..I used Autruche's tuning tones. 40hz at 0db. The OHMs kept fluctuating. It didn't go to like 70ohms. But it would jump around from 2-30ohms. I didnt see it much higher than 23. But keep in mind that checking the OHM load on my subs, I could leave the test leads there for a few minutes and it would stay between 2.2 - 2.4 ohms without moving. Do you guys got any idea what could be causing this... Grr. It is probably something simple that I am just overlooking...
