XX7R Posted July 20, 2011 Report Posted July 20, 2011 Alright so I'm gonna be getting an SMD 15 pretty soon and I'm messing around with the box that I have right now instead of making a new one because we made it to custom fit my car. Would 56 square inches of port be good enough for a box that's 4.1 cubic feet? Or should i go for even more port area? Tuning frequency is 33 hz. Any opinions on anything that i should change would be good. I'm going to be running around 3500 watts to it. (still need to clamp my amp to see how much its actually putting out). Ill get pictures of the box if anybody wants to see it? 1990 Nissan 300zx Twin Turbo - Summer Ride(No system yet, lookin to get it up to 450-500 horse first!)2006 Chevy Malibu - Daily DriverDC Level 5 15", 2 APSM-1500's, 3.88 cu. ft. tuned to 32hz1992 Honda Prelude - SOLD2 18" TC 3hp Woofers on a Crescendo BC3500.1d, 12.7 cu. ft. tuned to 35hz
RAM_Designs Posted July 20, 2011 Report Posted July 20, 2011 Round-over the openings and I think you'll be fine. The sub will probably be pretty peaky in that box. But if you're looking for a lot of output you'll be happy with it I think. AI James Posted July 20, 2011 Report Posted July 20, 2011 lets say your amp does exactly rated or lets say it does 4k rms. after rise you'll be underpowering the sub. What kind of end effect are you trying to get out of the subwoofer?
