jake1993 Posted July 21, 2011 Report Share Posted July 21, 2011 i was sitting here at home today and my mom called me and said here car wouldnt start. not the first time this has happened and last time they loaded the car up on the trailer and took it to the shop the guy at the shop got in and it fired right up. BUT whats really messing with us is when it does this all the gauges on the dash act up. everything maxes out and sitts there for a couple seconds when you turn the key over. but it dont click or anything. the radio turns off. and all the lights dim. i checked the battery i cleaned the terminals. still nothing, tried jumping it still nothing. any ideas what to do? isnt there a way to start it using like 3 wires? i got the key so the steering wheel will unlock. just looking for a way to get it started atleast so i can get it back to the house. Batt connections usually give you that kind of behaviuor because there is enough power to turn certain things alive and then nothing. However, many times the connection is sufficient to start the car... have looked at the end connections after the bat? what year is it? jake1993 Posted July 26, 2011 Author Report Share Posted July 26, 2011 ok guys. got it started again. and home. and its been starting fine since. no idea what the problem was. its a 2003. i check the connections they looked fine. changed the battery out and that didnt help. unhooked the battery let sit for 15 mins like my step brother told me who works for ford to see if the security some how got tripped. still didnt fix it. it just randomly started working. also we only have one key that will start it. and we have 2 service keys that will only give you access to the car but wont start it. do you guys think it could be the security chip in the key malfunctioning?
