ahhh I see.. Math my kriptonite.... lol Well i might try making one of these boxes in the future just gotta get a table saw and shitt. once again great work man keep it up! :drinks:

So whats the trick behind the Kerfed ports? :pardon:

Math!lol. Depth of cut, cut spacing, number of cuts, all depends on the box you're making....For this one I did 11 half-inch spaced cuts, 11/16th-deep cuts, gave a 3.25" radius for the kerf...

lol. It used to be mine too, but I was really interested in getting my boxes right, so I just had to learn it!...You don't necessarily need a table saw, I did these kerfs with a handsaw & a clamped piece of wood, btw look at my tool colletion pic, the "table" everything is on, is my "home-made" table saw!lol...oh, & thanks! :)

I'm in the processes of design a box with a kerfed port. How would I go about figureing out the length of the piece of wood I want to bend?

The holes in the slits are for the fiberglass resin to get inside the kerf, I filled in the kerf once i put the 45* in place...

The way I do it is I get a scrap piece do a "test kerf", measure the slits from where they start to where they end, then add that to the lengths of the two unkerfed pieces on sketchup....

So, basically make a test one until you find the right bend.

Well this is the way I do it: like in this case I did a test piece, came out to 11 cuts, half-inch spacing, 3.25" radius, 5 1/8 from first to last slit, so:

kerfcalc1.jpg

after that, I measured the port wall/side & added in the 5 1/8"..

kerfcalc2.jpg

So 16 1/8" + 17 1/8" + 5 1/8" = 38 3/8" piece & start kerf cut at 17 1/8"....hope I didn't confuse you..

I think I get it... I just don't think I have enough room to do it... damn! Well on both sides any ways.

Thanks for the help! :drinks:
