as for ammo i would go with these shells starting from the first one being shot a hornets nest, tri-dent, power punch ( those can be found on this link http://www.deltaforce.com/catalog/lesslethalammo.html ) then 2 triple decker shells, 2 pitbull shells and end it all with a terminator-x shell ( those can be found on this link http://www.deltaforce.com/catalog/12gaugeammo.html )

a baseball bat... a teenagers handgun

I live in michigan - needless to say not a great neighborhood in michigan

and i carry a baseball bat in my car just for safety (ever since i was younger and was robbed by a man i have always carried SOMETHING to defend myself

i used to carry a knife until i found out it was illegal to carry a button activated knife on you

- granted its not a GUN but it also wont get you locked up

Sure its not the strongest solution, but if your going the legal route - its the legal way to go

Keep in mind: i dont condone any violence, nor do i ever say or threaten anyone with my bat i just have it in case of emergency

(Im 18 now and can legally own a firearm - but i have no reason to, my baseball bat is enough security for me)

~This is added to the post you have just read:

I appreciate everything you guys do, and I hope you understand how much it matters to have people like you helping me learn

thanks so much

Well if you arent 18 then there isnt a whole lot you can do bro but if you are over 18 then a nice 16 gauge or 12 gauge shotgun with a slug

To the guy who said they arent good past 30 yds i dont know what or how you shoot but i can hit targets @100 yds easily with a shotty

This coming from the guy who suspended me haha which was lame.. didnt mean 30 yds i meant 60 my bad.. would love to see you hit targets @100 yds with a 12 gauge slug

I know lots of guys that hunt deer with slug guns and routinely shoot at 100 yards.

My point is the kid is 16 and its his first gun he needs to start out with a gun with a little less recoil.. I know people who hunt with shotguns as well but not likely a 16 year old kid can man handle a 12 gauge you know what i mean.. not trying to be a dick.. my point is its alot of gun for a 16 year old

thats not alot of gun, I just took a friend and her 17 year old daughter out and had them shooting my .50 cal muzzleloader with 160grn of powder in it with a 250 grain sabot rnd, and also shooting my sisters .300 weatherby mag. and they were fine with them...if you have someone that knows what they are doing show you how to shoot, you can have tiny ass people like my 95 pound sister shooting huge powerful guns with no problems.

Im just curious why you say stay away from 5.56? Its a deadly ass round bro and for home defense I believe AR is the way to go....

Also just an FYI 308 and 7.62x51 are the same caliber

I forgot to mention the 7.62x39 round, I know about the 308 NATO being 7.62x51 I couldn't edit my post. I knew I would get corrected by someone if I didn't change it.

5.56 doesn't really do any justice unless you have a AP round, I would use a .308 for a defense round to help stop protection by cover in an open field or car.

I have owned all three classes of rifles based on the .308, AR 5.56 and AK 7.62x39 and I would take my M-14 308 anyday over the other 2 for overall protection! Unless I had AP rounds for the .56 or .39. Only because the .308 7.62x51 round is ballistically superior to the 5.56mm ammunition of the M16 and AK 7.62x39, especially at ranges over 250 meters.

Just my 2 cents, I see you at 250 meters...I raise you 500 meters...still think your 5.56 will get me? I know my .308 will at 750 meters. You need class 4 or better to stop .308 for body armor and you get longer range killshots which will give you a better chance of staying alive in a combat engagement.
