rickyfromthe407
Cool! Got caught doing 80 in a 45. Ok not 80...more like 78. SOB! Completely my fault though so i aint gonna throw a pity party. Foolish mistake. I had cut my finger clean open to the bone with a knife and was trying to get home before i blacked out from blood loss. I wrapped a napkin around it TIGHT but it wasn't working, ended up having to get stitches. Anyways, headed home, got pulled luckily he only wrote me for 9mph over instead of 33 over. Jesus I was foolish...But in my defense I was in lot of pain. But not 131$ worth of pain ( oh plus doctors fees ) Anyways 3 points later I managed to get home and to a doctor and get sewn up. only 7 stitches all the way down my finger. Should leave a nice scar. Well, I started looking into police scanners... Never owned one before. But wanted to try them out. Now I figured with these things...your still at risk. So why cheap out? I am looking for some good ones, and some reviews say Cobra makes really good ones. Whilst reading I came across a thing called Laser Jammers which send out a signal that blocks all use of lasers. Oh yeah, and they're legal in Florida! Score. But they come with a price.... I was really thinking about picking this one up called the Blinder M47 it is supposedly the best of the best....received a few awards and such... $619.00 not too bad. BUT ITS ONLY FOR LASERS. Which are used a LOT where I live... But along with that, I wanted to check into a Radar scanner. SO I want to hear you guys opinions on them, how well they work, and if you recommend any products. I asked a few friends and they all said Cobra...My friend who actually owned one said he almost never gets false alerts and even if he is going over a hill or something it will still alert him. He says its accurate 99.9% of the time and has only had his NOT go off a few times when he was doing the speed limit so he was fine. What do you guys think? **Oh yeah, not sure where I was going to post this, so if a mod sees it and you think you know a better section feel free to relocate it! sayhuh?
How about save $700 and just slow down? You'll save in gas, speeding tickets and the wear and tear on your car too. Weird concept, huh? Look at it from a mathematical view. If you do 10 MPH over the speed limit, you will only arrive 10 miles in one hour faster than if you were doing the speed limit, which is approx 7-8 minutes on avg...then to keep in mind, most people may only drive on avg 35 miles for a trip...so you are saving even less time..maybe 4ish minutes...see where I am going here? You may get there faster, but not much faster and it will cost you more, with an added chance of getting tickets. 78 in a 45 is just dumb. Even with your reasoning...why drive home first? If it's cut that bad, go to a hospital? Or have someone take you...BTW, use plastic wrap if you ever do it again. lol Edited August 8, 2011 by sayhuh? But to be honest with you, I wasn't even aware I was going so quick. Had my windows rolled up. Clenching my hand just trying to get home. Never been in so much pain in my life... Might sound silly, but I have been busted up a few times... But a cut to the bone from the top knuckle all the way to my nail hurt pretty bad. Just tried to get home. In the end. I ended up losing another 20 minutes with the cop. So I know it wasn't worth it. I just was looking into them.. No I had my eye on that for awhile when I had my sports car, but as I said I drive a gas hog SUV so I'm much more easy on the throttle now. IMO. For 500$ if it saves me at-least 5 tickets it did its job. Damn.
