Any updates? I know you were saying the HD's don't perform well in sealed/bp boxes but wasn't Pete Sontag crazy loud running 8 hd 12's bass racing 59.9's in a 4th order? I just recently heard 4 hd 15's in a 4th, it got real low and was doing like 54's.

Gearing up for this hurricane, decided to have Scott keep the truck and redo my doors..I guess a better choice of words for the hd's would be "not ideal for 4th orders"(there are much better choices). does a 158 outlaw at 42hz, so to say they "don't work" would be wrong. When I choose the hd's I had a ported clamshell and for the money was the best option for me. The more Nick and Scott beat on them, the lower and louder they play..Singer did some testing with hd's and I think level 5's and not sure about what other subs..drop in same sealed box and in some of his test, the level 5 was almost 3db louder. Right now my weakest link are my alts..because of my supercharger, I can only run 2 alts. I plan on upgrading the alts in the next month or so, by then the subs should be broken in..as it stands they only have about 1 hour playing time on them. I was gonna pick it up Thursday 25th..but I live in Va Beach and I think the hurricane is gonna affect this area more than Scott's(he live in Wilmington NC)..next week gotta get my son ready for school-plus clean up from this hurricane- so it would be the 2nd week in Sept before I can get it..figured while he has it, may as well do the doors..and maybe by then I'll have the money for the alts..then we will see what we'll see!

oh and Bob keeps telling me, "be patient once they break in, you'll be satisfied" Brand new or fresh recones-they are stiff as hell.

I was thinking of doing a 4th order with my Aq HDC3 15s. I may have to re think that. Your subs look VERY similar to mine, I wonder how alike they really are?

Sorry for the thread jack OP. Do NOT do the HDC's in a 4th as they just aren't happy. I tried it in my clam a few months back. Ended up going to a 6th order and they're MUCH happier. As stated the suspension is just too stiff. Maybe if you did the sealed side very big they might work, but I'd test that with a single sub first to be sure.

Build is QUITE impressive :woot: Love them AQ20's....

Yea I think your right, Pete was using xfls. They both require a lot of time to break in tho. I just got 6 of his old AB 120.1's.

I am currently running 4 DD 9515's in a 4th order because I feel I don't have the room for a 6th order. Only problem I really run into is over excursion from having well over 4000 watts a sub if I want it. It sounds good and its loud.I am getting much better thermal power handling out of the 4th vs the ported wall that was in there before.I haven't metered it yet tho but its brutal on the lows when I roll the windows down. Windows up 45-55 is still loud but anything below that really comes alive with wondows down. Mlstrass what was your biggest complaint with the hdc's in a 4th?? Low power handling or wasn't loud or what?? Sorry for the thread jack. Also Ty are these scores on the dash with door open??
