15's on 2000W

Enclosure is 5.4 cu. ft. before any woofer displacement. Designed for 2 subs firing up/port back. 70 sq. in port area tuned to around 33 hz. What 15's would work well with this volume in a midsized SUV on 2000W rms...possibly a crescendo bc2000.

Well, woofer displacement for two 15"s is not that much.... probably about .30 to .40 cu ft. But has port displacement already been figured in ? THIS is what takes up major cubes ! If this already has been figured in, this still only leaves you with about 2.5 cubes per sub, which is pretty small for most 15"s. Not saying they won't work in this amount of space, but they won't work as well as they could. Some subs do better in smaller spaces than others, of course.

If porting has not been figured in, this would probably leave you with 2 cubes per sub, or less.

And another thing.... 70 sq in port area, for two 15"s is pretty darn small. Especially if your running a couple of high powered, big X-max, 15"s.

Personally, if I couldn't fit a bigger box, I'd probably be building a box for one 15"... or two 12"s. Then you'd have a million options, many of which could take 2000wts rms, no problem.

One thing I learned a LONG time ago.... When a manufacturer or factory rep says > "This subwoofer will play in as little as..... There's your sign ! {note: you could throw those subs in your back seat, no box at all, hook power wires to it, and "it will work".... that is to say, the cone will bounce back and forth, and it will make some kind of sloppy noise... but probably not exactly the sound you'd prefer }

What you really want to hear is, "The optimum space for this sub is...." Then, if you can make that space available, it's on !

Holy small port area Batman. You need to shoot for 14-16 in^2 per cubic foot.

I didn't see what type of 15' s they are, but if its anything decent, your going to have .5 cubes+ of displacement. You also need to factor in bracing, and subtract the port area. Like fish said you will end up with too small of a box for 15'

But you could make a awesome single 15 box or a dual 12" box pretty nicely.

Port displacement is figured in and that volume is net just without sub displacement. The port is kerfed with a 5 inch radius. It has 2 12's in it and is loud and clean but I was wondering if it was big enough to switch in some 15's for an upgrade later.

I know the right answer is to just build another box but my spare time is very minimal. I started researching and designing this box back in november of last year and just finished it last week. Although the actual building process took about 6 weeks. Usually a box for 2 12's won't be good for 2 15's but that is why I am asking if there are any out there that would perform o.k. in this setup.

Stipek, just to reiterate, don't fall for any of those "will work in as little as" statements. Manufacturers only say this to sell more subwoofers. I really don't know of any 15"s that would work "optimumly" in that amount of air space, even though they would all work.... depending on how loosely you use the term "work".

nightshades and the z series from sundown both like small boxes, you'd probably want some more power, or use the SA series, but i'm not sure how big of boxes they like
