ChrisBell Posted August 24, 2011 Report Posted August 24, 2011 So I've finally decided to build my own trunk for my 4 subs, what kind of wood to get and what tools do I need? ( tools far as to cutting the sub holes etc.) Also what to get for holding the wood together? I have no experience at all in this area but I just want to be able to say I did my own work!

tonedeaf Posted August 24, 2011 Report Posted August 24, 2011 Use lots of wood glue and wood clamps if you have them. Drill to pre-drill and for screws. Circular saw is nice to have for longer cuts, but you can use a jigsaw if you dont have a circular saw. Jig saw will do everything a circular will, just not as fast. You dont have to get a plunge router, many people, even some of the 'pros' still use jigs..so routers arent necessary, they just make it easier sometimes. Important thing is get a GOOD design. Once you have a design, check it again. After that, measure your trunk again, and make sure your design fits. When cutting the wood, measure twice. Then cut once. Straight edhes are your best friend. Nothing like getting it all cut and you realize nothing sits flush.

Thanx I my idea is to have 2 subs on on side of my trunk and 2 on the other side with 2 amps and cap in the middle instead of one big box, my trunk is big enough for it
