Superjay Posted August 29, 2011 Report Share Posted August 29, 2011 it will not keep up with the Apline or T1. The 3XL are mostly an SQ speaker. They are a dual gap design (not like the SMD...different) the design theory is such that at least one voice coil is always in a gap. They do not handle power well, and do not sound all that great. I'd take a set of 2XL ANY DAY OF THE WEEK over the 3XL, for both SQ and SPL. (Mirus? something like that) It really depends upon what you're looking to get out of the speakers. I'm an SQ guy so I tend to lean that way. If you want a more SPL geared speaker there are more qualified people here to ask. I can only attest to the quality of whatever they recommend. I want to keep up with two 15 subs which i am failing bad at right now.
