Ok guys i have a few questions that Ive never found the answer or understood. Lets start

1.How do more watts make a sub louder, i know they do, just how does more power to a sub make it louder, if they all move the same at different watts?

2.Why are you capable of supplying a sub with more power if its in a smaller enclosure? never got that one

3.How can wattage effect your build i guess that can run with the question above, but every time i wanna make a build, theres always the followed well how many watts you gonna have.

thats all i can think of at the moment, any help would be much appreciated

1. More power means the woofer will move more and harder than with less power, thus increasing db's

2. I don't really know why but I am guessing the pressure helps it somehow

3. People as this because it's best when you get speakers, to get amps that RMS those speakers

let me rephrase that, im referring why do watts effect the build of your box.

and another question.

when you use torres box calculator, when putting in the port dimensions, would that be if the box was laid over on it side, like where it says height would the be the longways of the port going up and down, and if so you would subtract 1.5in from the box height if you were using .75 MDF. obviously the width would be the other way. and length, is that from end to end of the port, or from the corner to the end thats inside the box?

If the box is too big and you put XXXX amount of power to it, the woofer will unload. I am guessing you have never seen that happen. If the woofer unloads it can do damage to the sub and also make your score drop. Smaller box generally means more power because there is more back pressure on the cone, meaning it will take more power to get the woofer to move. That is very top level explanation, but should help.
