A view of Texas up in smoke

Recommended Posts

That must be a cool job.

What do you do?

I play with weather satellites. Make sure they work, bring in images and ship them to users...in a nut shell. lol It's fun, but sucks when NASA gets a lot of credit for what they don't do lol. A lot of times, you will see images posted with NASA credit..which affects our budget. If that makes sense haha.

That's wild.

I have been dealing with the Missouri River flood all summer and we would love to send all this water to Texas!

Yea, being from STL, I dealt with the Mississippi quite a bit. Move out here and my damn basement floods during Irene lol.

Wow. Just wow man. Thanks for the images. The Dismal Swamp is the one seen in the 3rd pic, directly on the border of VA and N.C. I don't know what is producing all the smoke in the first 2 pics though.

Funny thing is, the GOES pic (last image), says from 2008 lol. Was there one then too? I can't find many good ones of that fire. Not sure why. The first two are the images for it that area, just from different views.

Yea, Dismal Swamp catches on fire EVERY year around the same time. You think there would be preventative measures taken lol.
