dolarbilz Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 Depends how much u want to spend? Will you be using a amp to power them? Factory deck or aftermarket?

mustangbuzz64 Posted September 17, 2011 Author Report Posted September 17, 2011 well is an amp remcommened and aftermarket stereo
Bluliner Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 well is an amp remcommened and aftermarket stereo If you like your music loud and clear; yes, an amp is recommended. It's not always necessary though, sometimes a decent set of components and a clean sounding HU is more than enough for a lot of people. If you think you might be one of those people, there are plenty of component speaker sets <$250 that do quite well without the need of an amplifier. When you get into the higher end stuff is when you start needing an amp as those speakers were made to operate with more power sent to them. Run of the mill 'cheapie' components? Those do fine off 15w.
Fish Chris Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 sometimes a decent set of components and a clean sounding HU is more than enough for a lot of people. Well maybe..... Just not a "lot of the people" who visit this forum LOL Yes, get a decent little amp. It's kind of interesting to me, when I hear people say > My little stock stereo (with 20 or 30 wts, or whatever it is) already plays louder than I even need it to ! What in the heck would I need / want 500 or 5000 wts or some crazy setup like that for ? Well, the answer is, what they are mistaken for "loud" (with their stock setups) is a little bit of music, mixed with a LOT of distortion. If these same people had a 1000 wt system, set up properly, I think it would be quite common for them to use 200.... 300, heck even 500 watts of this power. Granted, it would be WAAAY louder on a decible meter, than their old factory squawk box, but because of the clarity, plus the fact that much of that power would be pushed down towards the lows, they wouldn't even realize how much louder they were playing there music, than they used to.
