Nice build log! I have one of those Ominfi Units BNIB w/ the wireless adapter. Just never got around to using, even listed it a few years ago on CL for $40 along w/ a BNIB Infinity Perfect 12VQ for $60....glad I got smart and decided to keep both (plus I had zero hits on my ad - since it wasn't 3kw and named Crunch, I was SOL....)

Lots of interesting stuff in this thread. I especially enjoy all the articles. Even though I read them all when they originally came out, I must admit that I read almost all of them again. The car stereo industry has certainly changed a lot from it's humble beginnings. There have been many innovators. I see Larry Frederick on occasion at the local gathering for wings and beer. He hasn't changed one bit. I still also talk to Trout on occasion. He now works for JVC as a sales manager. I worked with Ron a short 5 years at Rockford so I know exactly how persuasive he is. Today, I consider him a great friend.

A few answers about the vans . . .

The van that Mark Fukuda built for Rabitt (a former employer of mine) still exists today, much as it is seen in the article. Fukuda now owns it. Last we spoke, he was planning a complete restoration and looking for a few Symmetry pieces.

The van with the "four 18s and two Power 1000s" was actually one of over a dozen such vehicles around the country. All were Astros with a similar design and were built by The Specialists in Tucson, AZ based on direction of Ron Trout. They were called "Blastros". Each of the RF reps owned them. Interestingly enough, the van that Fukuda built for Rabitt was the 2nd incarnation of the Texas based rep van, which was formerly owned by none other than George Reed aka Doc Thunder - the rep Rabitt replaced.

As a side note, I sold nearly all of my RF collection to fingazz over the last few years. I had a few gems. I also had a New In Box 1988 model Punch 150 (as in still wrapped . . . never installed . . . like totally mint in every way). This was the crowing jewel of my collection. I sent it to Brett Farqueson, the Rockford Fosgate distributor in South Africa when I left Rockford. To date, Brett is the biggest RF "fanatic" I've ever met. He displays it as "on loan from Tony Candela" . . . lol

Finally, not many details exist on the Power II or the Punch Power 200 other than the brochures that appear in this thread. My friend Mark Lieber (who is pictured working the burn-in racks in the Rockford company brochure in this thread) has another pretty large collection, including a Punch Power 360. Funny story is, that he and I were leaving the sales / customer service building one day for lunch. As we walked out, a guy walked in with that amp under his arm to have it repaired. We both saw it and were like . . . NO WAY! We gave him a brand new Punch P800.4 in exchange for it and he was like, "Dude - WHO else can you buy an amp from and twenty years later they give you a brand new one?"

All good stuff. I really enjoyed my time at RF.

@snafu

Great comments and information for all! I like the Punch Power 360 story, that's a good one. I myself, not too long ago, traded a guy who had a near MINT 1st gen Punch 75 (with the early bass/treble knobs est. 1985/1986) for a MTX 4 channel amp (Thunder model, chrome/black, can't recall the model). He was THRILLED with the trade and so was I!

Any historical info about Rockford Fosgate is appreciated. Thanks again!

Wow, where the hell did you dig that up???.. It's soooo on topic as of late. I was telling a buddy about some gear the wife and i are tryin to buy & of course he just didn't get why even waste or put money into car audio. Anyway, I started tell him how things have changed,.. And how as a kid i would sit up all night and memorize balls to bones my AS&S mags... And I told him about this mullet wearing dude with a yellow s10 blazer, that just dominated, and was with the first to really go ape shit. And then you go and post this ... Well done my friend.

@ BigD/snafu

Do you guys have any shirts or any clothing with some older RF logos I could buy off ya for me and the wife?.. Anyway, much appreciate both of you sharing.. Don't care who ya are or where your from.. These guys helped lay the tracks for what we all enjoy now.. Good poop.,,
