FroznBeavrBALLs
Nice build. the only thing im confused about is the support right in front of the round ports? is that part of the port or something? i have never seen that before. But the box looks NICE. and i bet those DDs sound real good in person. 2 DC 12" lvl 4s 1 DC 1.2k XS Power S3400 big 3 Alll KNU wire Pioneer HU cheapo Legacy coaxes (just for now) http://www.stevemead...n-sentra-build/
neuspeedescort
its to help with port & woofer noise. with a woofer so close to the port and the ports being straight it can cause turbulence that can be heard some times. NEUMAN
Miles
The plate helps keep pressure in the box. With the subs being that close to the port, they will tend to unload if there isn't something blocking the imediate path. So far it has worked like a charm. Miles
So, went and played around on a Term Lab this afternoon and here's some results: Windshield 40 hz: 139.4 dB Windshield 24 hz: 138.8 dB Kick panel 40 hz: 139.6 dB Kick panel 23 hz: 139.5 dB So far i'm very impressed at the low end these things have. Still want a better score so i'm going to build another box (maybe have this one subs behind drivers seat and port firing passenger side toward the top of the box instead of toward the bottom like this box was). I would like some input thought on box designs (volume, tuning, port area). I would like to put up a 142 or over, but still be able to play most music and not be a burp box. However, i do LOOOOVE the lows that this thing produces.
Miles
Numbers didn't satisfy me enough, so i built another box. This one is 2.5 cubes with 42 sq in of port tuned to 38 hz. There is a big difference in how it sounds (better SQ), and it is noticeably louder in this box. Just because of how it loads in my truck, with the passenger side sealed off, it still kills all the way down to 24 hz. Going to go get it metered next week sometime. Don't think i'm going to do anything to this box as far as covering it goes. Video is still processing so it will be a while before there's a video of this up. Miles
Sounds good to me. Where are you located at again? And yes, there is a noticeable difference between this one and the one with the aeros.Granted the box with the aeros sounded great and got plenty loud, this one is a lot better. I'm going to go get it metered probably on Tuesday, maybe tomorrow if i have the time. I'm thinking this box wlil break a 140, not sure by how much though. And, even though it's tuned to 38 hz, it still dominates down to 24 hz, and gets pretty damn loud at 28 hz. But I'll do an itemized metering, and get scores from every frequency from 23 to 45. Also, there is only like a .9 dB difference between measuring on the dash and measuring in the kick panel. Love how these 1510's sound, and they aren't even broken in yet. I'd like to here that 2512SC. I've heard the SC subs peak a little higher (higher fq) than a non-SC sub.
