KenC210 Posted October 6, 2011 Report Posted October 6, 2011 Ok so i have these sound storm 15" subs. Its power rating claims 1200/2400 RMS/Peak. Specs for these are: FS 26 QTS 0.681 QMS 5.046 QES 0.788 VAS 5.573 XMAX 0.315 RE 1.8 SENS 96 Ok now in the manual it says the box volume of ported is 2.3 cu ft for this sub.with the port freq. at 30HZ and a port of 4 inches dia and 1o inches length. So i built a box that is 36" wide with a divider in the middle. So each chamber has 2.53 net volume and a slot port volume of .21 ft^3 (port area of 18.00^2) (port area per foot 7.11^2). That would make my port tuning to be around 35hz. Which i see as ok. Now according to the specs would the claim of 1200WRMS be true? And the reason i ask is cuz i have 2 zx1000.1. And i blew them both awhile back and the company honored the warranty and replace them no questions asked. But when i blew them i had only had both subs wired @ 4ohms to only one amp cuz i didnt have all the other accessories to wire up the second amp. Well that was before i joined this forum that i blew them. So now just today i have gotten them back from the company and would like to make sure everything is right this time around. well i have learned a lot from this site from just reading post and looking at other builds. And i came to find out that i may have been sending them a clipped signal cuz i had the amp gains set almost to max. So now i would like to know if these subs could handle the 1000 watts i am going to power them at? Sorry for the long "senseless" Post to some, but i would like some help from the experts this time around. TeamHT Posted October 6, 2011 Report Posted October 6, 2011 Don't have time to break it down, but the RMS for thr most part is the RMS. If you blew them I would say user error. Could possibly be incorrect gain settings, SSF, even incorrect wiring. What are the voicecoil configurations on the subs? Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
