just waiting on my subs thought they'd be here by now, cuz last time i ordered a pair they got here in a week, and it's been that long. forgot if they send an e-mail when they're shipped. if they do...then they havent been shipped yet. i'm so impatient

GOT THE SUBS! finally! got em wired in and all, adjusted with a DMM to about 55 volts. sounds pretty damn loud so far, but i got a question. when i turn it up a little more on the loud side, it cuts out and the cd doesnt play. it will click in and then click out. then in again and out. is this a problem with the amps? the head unit is dual (sucks big ass i know...but my avic unit went out and i wanted somethin quick and cheap to play cd/mp3's till i got my new double din unit) or is it in the cheap ass cd player?

if you guys help me...i'll post some more pics. even a video or two

yeah. i think it's the vibration from the speakers skipping the cd. after all it's a 'dual' brand. doesnt do it on certain notes. but i have 2 more questions...

1. when setting the amp up, i got my DMM set up and all, and i turn the gain (supposed to be turned to 54.8 volts), but do i turn ONLY the gain? cuz say i get that adjusted, if i turn my bass boost up, that'll raise the volts, yes? or is a little adjustment ok after the gain is set up first? i know turning either one too much will cause distortion.

2. what is this noise coming from the subs? sounds like...a space ship. kinda low, but definitely noticeable

personally... i have never used a bass knob, unless its rf like meades, otherwise.... it will change your volts and will produce more distortion since it adds bass centered at 45hz. set dmm with sine wave of 55 to 60 hz, 75% volume, and make sure you use dmm when @ 75% on your subs rca's so you can find at what volume, 70-72-78% produces the said voltage it should produce in amp manual, say 4 volts, this might help narrow down your problem.

i have a jvc-shx8500 and under the subwoofer setting, it goes from 0-12

when i 1st set it up subwoofer setting was @ 3 and gain was @ 3/4 and rcas read 2v

when i set subwoofer setting @ 12 with gain at 2/5, rcas read 3.9v...amp ran cooler, and sounded better all around on all notes... not as boomy and much more accurate since i intrduced distortion when orginally set up...

yeah i had the 60 hz cd and did everything like i should, just wasnt sure if i should use only the gain on the amp or a little gain and little bass boost. i'll do half and half i suppose. i think i'll be better off when i get a new head unit period so i can turn it up LOUD without it all skipping on me.

sounds pretty good tho. i'm liking it a lot. cant wait till it's all broken in and hear its full potential. i'll take some pics and vids tomorrow after work

if i understand correctly from steve's tahoe and how he uses his bass knob, dont use bass boost, but if you want to use your bass knob with gain and bass boost, set your remote knob 1st to whatever the highest youll turn it up to, then use dmm to set amp gain to match the desired 54.8v, much deviance from that # will likely be distorted bass
