Torres Posted January 9, 2008 Author Report Posted January 9, 2008 the FIRST box was already done. got bored...wanted to build somethin...so i am making another this one i'm 'finishing' as i got. paint/stain and all that. bigger port so hopefully more air flow so hopefully louder. this one was tuned using the tuning equation. so i'm hoping this one will be sweet ass. i got some pics...and pics of somethin i decided to do while i was waiting for some paint to dry should i post pics? i am gonna install my 5.1 surround sound card real quick

Torres Posted January 9, 2008 Author Report Posted January 9, 2008 what the hell...damn spur of the moment ideas. might not get finished for a while tho depending on the cold weather first layer second layer gonna put a third layer just to make sure it's strong enough tomorrow after work if i can. going to house 2 sets of speakers in each door. not sure which kinds yet. thinking about focal, but still open to suggestions. just dont wanna spend godly amounts on the speakers. going back to school so i'm moreso on a budget now

The glass stay put until you want to remove it than remove the tape and screw it into the door? Just curious! Yeah I mixed your box and another build up...sorry about that! I remember you wanting to redo the other box though! I like the whole stained wood though look good for sure!
Torres Posted January 10, 2008 Author Report Posted January 10, 2008 i have a bolt in there atm till i get back out tomorrow or the day after. it'll pop right out. i've taken it off already and checked it out. but what ima do is put a couple bolts through the glass and the door and glass over them a couple times to keep them in place. then when i'm ready to wrap it in cloth...the bolts will already be in place. so i can wrap it and glass it then when i'm ready to put it in, the bolts on the inside that i glassed in place, will slide into the holes that got drilled through the door. that way you wont see any screws got an idea for the pocket too...might slide it down to the opposite side, cut that little 'pattern' in it out and maybe light it up, put some kind of wording in it or somethin. then wrap it so it all blends together. lol my sister said to put fish in there so they look like they are swimmin around. what a hoe...
Torres Posted January 11, 2008 Author Report Posted January 11, 2008 quick little update on the doors. just showing how ima mount them. the holes line up room to bolt it glassed over to hold in place the general shape of it. the top curve is going to extend a little longer so it blends in better
Torres Posted January 11, 2008 Author Report Posted January 11, 2008 i do have a question tho...the bottom sits nicely in place. now when i'm ready to wrap it in fleece, should i just super glue the fabric to the edges? use some resin...then trim the extra stuff off? so that way i dont wrap it underneath and make it's placement uneven. or should i take some expanding foam and use a little around the edges and trim down so that the fleece will curve more to the edge, then super glue it to the edge and resin? i guess i may have to do a test wrap and see how it looks with it straight to the edge. then see if i want it curvier.
talentfinder36 Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 Place your speaker ring where you want it and support it with dowel rods glued with super glue. Then wrap your fabric to the edges and secure with super glue. Put a layer of resin over the fabric then start glassin over that. If any thing hangs off just trim it when you finish glassing.
