dereileak
when the voltage drops to 13.2 does that really count as that amperage output? as that is a reduced voltage, therefore losing wattage, because lets say you have 280 amps * 14.4 v = 4032 watts of energy, now if you do 330 amps * 13.2 = 4224, you may be doing a bit more, but the voltage is going to cause the amps to be less efficient, I do suppose that it would normally be hooked up to a fairly large battery bank to help this, just saying, maybe we should be measuring alts in the max wattage they can put out, and then at what readings those wattages were at, just sayin Quote 2006 Mazda3 Hatchback Black 5 Spd ManualPioneer 4300DVD2 Sundown SA-12 (34hz Tune, 3.22 cubes, 14.5 inches per cube, Triple Baffle)Kicker 10ZX2500.1 (2845 RMS) Sub AmpKicker 11ZX650.4 (705 RMS) Mid Amp -- (3 Amps)Kicker KQ3 Active CrossoverKicker KQ30 EqualizerKicker 09QS60.2 Components (Woven Carbon Cones)Kicker 09QS65.2 Components (Woven Carbon Cones) - (3 Sets)2/0 Gauge Electron Beam Technologies (3 Runs, 2 +, 1 -) 1/0 Gauge KNU Kollasal Flex (1 Run for -) 300 Ft Kicker X-Series 16 Gauge Speaker WireXS Power D3400 (Rear)XS Power D3100 (Front)Singer Externally Regulated Alternator (Being Built)+ The Love for Car Audio and BASS <3UBL Build Log <------- Click Here-------> Normal Build Log (For Comments)
MECHMAN
The drop is because there is a load larger than the alternator can produce being applied to the battery, I had the load banks pulling 300-350a out of the battery. The battery rests at 12.7v, maintaining 13.3+v is more than acceptable and the rate of voltage drop is dependent on the battery capacity at that point. The amperage output is accurate regardless of the voltage, I could have run it down to 10v and the amperage output would still be correct. The amp clamp only measures amperage, not voltage, and the amperage output of the alternator is not dependent on the voltage of the battery when under load. Real96SS
This may be an option for you in the future when they are built for GM applications, for now they are only for the V-mount Ford. Email me and we can discuss how to make multiple units work on your ride. [email protected] So your saying that as of right now there is no way to run dual seperate alternators on these trucks? Reason I was even considering it was because people are running seperate alternators in these newer model trucks and SUV's no problem. Haven't had a chance to ask them if they had to do anything special but i would have thought that you could hook the extra alternators up without running them through the PCM. MECHMAN
Yes, you can run dual alternators, but you can't regulate them with the factory unit and you can't link them to your factory electrical. blankskater08
Do you guys make anything for the Ford 5.0 though? I heard somewhere they were hard to get HO alts to fit due to space behind the alt. tip n tell
That 300a alt looks like the 3 I have From what I can see in the video, probably not same alts. Maybe same case. I heard somewhere they were hard to get HO alts to fit due to space behind the alt. I not only build for 5.0 engines, we all own or have owned them. Matt has one, his father and his brother do too. I'm looking for another 5.0 based toy right now. Yes, you can run dual alternators, but you can't regulate them with the factory unit and you can't link them to your factory electrical. Would that cause any problems short or long term? No, not if it's installed properly. That 300a alt looks like the 3 I have From what I can see in the video, probably not same alts. Maybe same case. Same case, they are based on the Mitsubishi unit. Quote 1-888-MECHMAN www.Mechman.com [email protected]

blankskater08
Nice! Glad to know you guys have done stuff with them. What alts do you offer for them? I have a 1999 Mercury Mountaineer with the 5.0 in it. Thanks!
