[email protected] Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 Hi Everyone, I'm new here and I have been out of the car audio scene for about 12 years. I've been getting a system together in my car for six months now. I would like help deciding on an amp for the new subs I'm going to stick in my rear deck. I currently have a pair of JL Audio 13TW5's powered by a pair of alpine M1000's. I'm going to be swapping them out for a pair of DD Audio 3500 series 12's. I was thinking of using either a Hifonics BRZ2400 or a RE Audio XTX5000.1 to power them. I was going to go with the JL Audio Slash 1000 but it didn't seem to have much more juice than the alpines. Am I on the right track with those two amps? Power requirement isn't a problem since I also have two kinetik 2000's on stand by if I need them. My other components consist of 2 sets of Audison AV K6's in the doors, A Pioneer Navi DVD AVIC930 Head unit, 2 JL Audio HD 600/4's, a Stinger "0" Guage Wiring kit and all platinum ANL fuse distribution blocks with digital meters.
kam311 Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 I am not 100% sure what power people are putting to their 3500's but your on the right track. The jl amps army really an upgrade from the alpine ones you have at all, and definitely not worth the money. The hifonics are nice and do rated, it would he smoothly upgrade over your current set up. But if you want a very noticeable difference I would get a sundown 2500, they are very underrated and they are pretty reasonable in their prices, that's just my opinion tho.you may have to set your gains a little lower tho with that amp, like I said, I don't really know the 3500's limits, it just seams you are wanting a little more power so far... Although a little more expensive than the hifonics, the sundown 2500 like said above will be underrated. It will do those subs so nice so far...
