bumpinTL364
I'm building a system for my dorm (as I bet most of you know by now) so i have another question; how many amps/watts do i need to put out? at max, both my amps will be putting out 620 watts (400 for the woofer and 110 per channel on the mids and highs) and i know that most decent alts put out around 120ish amps. should i be looking for something in the 700 watts range, or (by multiplying 120 by 12.8volts) go for something around 1500 watts? I'm on a budget here btw, so any suggestions on where to look would be greatly appreciated! masterbation is free, and even saves you money.sorry but someone had to say itsorry, Jimmy...beat you to it (no pun intended) LOLDON'T get a wife. Best advice I never got, and now it's too late My build: 12" DCON in a dorm room. New/current build: 8" woofer, custom amplifier block, fiberglassed speaker pods
SnowDrifter
If you can, get some batteries(deep cycle, like Optima Yellowtop), a battery charger, and a voltage readout. I think those would be better able to keep up with the peaks and spikes of music then a ac-dc converter. If you want a high-power dc power supply, take a look here - http://www.powerstream.com/12-volt.htm ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
