stinky coils

Chances are you're clipping the signal to that subs. And if your sun is not moving easily with rated power, the sub may be too stiff and not enough airflow through vents to cool the coil

just checked the coil yesterday, and didn't see any discoloration

i've tried to go through just about every setting in the head unit. the highest i've gone on the volume is 42, but generally i don't go over 30. it has been wired to 1ohm for about a week now, and it just started getting stinky yesterday. besides the sub volume, does everything else sound about right? could an air leak somewhere in the box cause this problem?

is the coil starting to burn out what colour is it

does the other settings sound right? the gain 1/3, low pass 1/3, bass 0, and subsonic 1/3?

Setting "sounding right" and settings "being right" are 2 different things. Ive changed my settings a few times. Each with my dd-1, and my scope (before I had the dd-1) and it was different settings each time. An example is when I changed my head unit. You need to get someone in the area who can help you set em properly so you dont smoke you equipment.
