Stee-Z
I run my 2 hdc3 18's in 10 cubes with 140 square inches of port btw. Sounds phenomenal. For that 15, you could get away with 3.75-4.25 cubes with ~55-~60 square inches of port. yeah i screwed up when i design it and calulated the port wrong, noob mistake haha Quote (4)DD 9918's (2)DC 10k 8 6.5" focals 2 DD SS4 mid amps Audison Bit One processor Jl-cl-rlc line driver iPad in dash Dual Irragi 320a alts 8 batcaps 4000's Second Skin sound deadened
mlstrass
I'd make the port bigger which will help to lose some box volume. I've had very good luck with 4.25-4.5net with AQ/DD subs. 16^2 port area and up to 20^2 for daily set ups... As stated the sub is loading off the trunk lid, so once you open the trunk you lose that loading wall.
SnowDrifter
Box is only 5 cubes? I would of made it around 6. And only 10 sq in of port? Wayyyy to small. Definitely sounds like a box problem. I would do around a 6 cube box, with around 15-16 sq inch's of port. That's still chokingly small. I would say ~60 sq in of port as a minimum (I'm using 73 for my current box) What's your port shape? I didn't mean it like total area of port, 16sq in per cube. Sorry i didn't explain it better! haha. I built a box for a XL 18, Has 6.06 after, and 18 sq in per cube with 114 sq in of port area. Just to give you a rough idea though. Oh, my bad. I thought you meant total LOL. In that case stick to 12-16 sq in per cubic foot. I like to err towards the larger side of a port when possible since it gets louder. But also be aware that with a larger port - the sub will unload faster when it drops below the tuning point Edited October 30, 2011 by SnowDrifter Quote ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
