Shakespeares Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 I'm relatively new into beginning builds, and for my first install, I built a box 17.5*8.5*17(l*w*h*) for a Kicker CVR 10". Then I added in an Autotek M1600.2. 4awg to positive and ground, and double layered 12awg from amp to sub(temporary until I get more wire). Sub is bridged at 4ohm, and it's loud inside, but It doesn't seem to be as loud as I'd imagine it to be. A friend of mine has maybe two hundred watts more and is heard throughout the parking lot, whereas mine barely vibrates on the outside. Box is behind the seats of a 99 Chevy 2500 Reg. cab. With this basic setup, am I able to get any louder or notice any flex? At most my mirror will vibrate and blur, but no real movement. Also, would 64*8.5*17 work for 4 Kicker CVR 12"s? 95legwagon Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 Can't speak for your setup, but ported can make a big difference. /\ ding ding ding lol ported is wayyyyy louder than sealed in any situation imo.... you move more air that way and that what causes flex ..... i have 1 12" sub running off 600w rms (if that) and my car definitly vibrates alot and you can hear me coming..... ported is the way to go. some say you lose alot of SQ with a ported box but i dont think so really.... just my 2 cents..... p.s. heres so you can find out the difference in box size for what you need .
