howelr Posted November 6, 2011 Report Posted November 6, 2011 So i have a 97 Honda with im not sure the amperage off the alternator its either 85 or 95 but my question is would i be able to run 2 amps off it? i have a 10" L7 with an alpine mrp-500 right now. should i upgrade amps for the sub? and would i be able to put in another amp for the door speakers, also Kicker KS series 6.5's so not terribly large only maybe 50 rms per. i dont have a ton of money for the amps maybe 250 max right now but Christmas is coming up and the family is asking for ideas
danterakin Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 I put in 4 8s with a 800+wrms amp with stock electrical and her 2000 civic sedan does well. It does have minor diming on hard instant bass notes but it doesn't hurt much, like her voltage drop goes to 11.8 volts which ain't too bad. But make sure you do big 3 upgrade because that helped a lot. I just used 4 gauge for the big 3 since everything was all short distances. Also had a run of 4 gauge going to the back. My 15" L7's seems to work really hard for near 1k rms. Won't be huge but you will definitely know the difference. It's all on box design though you can make that 1 10" sound crazy in the right box. If you are planning to do the Big 3 don't half ass it just 0 gauge it from now that way if you decide to go larger later you're not redoing work. Darvex.com has everything you need to do a big 3 for a very affordable price and please don't go cheap on your wiring.
