FroznBeavrBALLs
so i just bought a used DC lvl 4 15" with lvl 5 soft parts from a guy on here and he tested the coils and its a D2. I get it and there really wasnt any damage to the package. Before i put it in the box i checked the coils to make sure everything was good. I used my friend's new Dmm and it was realing ~1ohm each side. So we just assumed the guy just listed it wrong. So we went ahead with the install and hooked it up and everything is running fine. Then i got on SMD the other day and told him that he must have listed the sub wrong not D2 but D1. He then told me that he is 100% positive that its a dual 2 because of the application that he used it in. So that made me kinda worried about the sub. so i went out and bought a Dmm (because im about an Hour and a half away from my house at school) and i took some readings at the bolts, the splitter i have them running to, and the amp. Tell me what yall think. At the bolts terminals on the box. I have 4awg running out from them to a splitter This is the splitter. The 4awg in and 4 8awg out to the amp. Here is the 8awg side of the splitter. ANd here is the 4 8awg running into the amp. So does it look like a D2 or a D1 with like .5ohms of resistance somewhere. We measured it with a good quality Dmm and it was much closer to D1 than D2. I have yet to tune my amp to this sub as well, i will as soon as i get back home next week. But sometimes when i turn the volume up and play like a whole song it starts to smell. But then i turn it down and go back there the amp is not warm and i cant smell it anymore, only a few seconds later. Please someone help me. FroznBeavrBALLs
ok i'll try to get it outa the box tomorrow. I checked them at the terminals before i put it in the box and it was reading D1. Could something have happened to it in shipping that the coils mess up and drop it to close to a D1 from D2. i know that sounds weird. but could something like that happen?
