donovanl12 Posted February 14, 2013 Report Share Posted February 14, 2013 My alternator on my car('93 Mustang) is 75 amps, and charges the battery by a two prong clip and two 12 gauge wires. It doesn't have a stud on the back. This alt. from 1994 and up mustangs is 130 amps and charges the battery by the standard stud on the back of the alt and a large gauge wire. 30 bucks at the junkyard I just have to modify the wiring on my car a little bit, and I can finally idle with normal voltage. With the old alt, if I turn on the AC at idle, it drops to like 12 volts. It sucks. After I swap this, I can finally idle at 14 volts (or whatever a normal idle should be lol).
