Coolbeans
I know fuses are pretty cheap, just breakers would seem better in the long run. Are there any disadvantages to having a breaker, or are they better with small applications. Im running a fi bl 15, AP1500, with zero gauge wiring. I just dont want to have any power reduction or anything. Anyhow lmk what yall think/know
mikeg321
I believe after tripping a breaker multiple times they can wear out and get stuck closed which means that wires no longer protected and can cause a car-b-que Edit. tacomabanga1986
ya, breakers look cool but are not a good idea for car audio aplications a fuse is always better, but i have yet to see a 200+ amp fuse get fully blown, ive seen em melted and what knot but not blown a fuse is acually cheaper than a breaker in a way, i mean u shouldn't be blowing fuses left and right, but its still better to have a fuse than a breaker, i think the contact on a breaker is smaller than a fuse is anyways now fuses can be as tricky to work with as breakers, like in home hvac, the fuses in the disconnect are rated @ 30amps, but when at start up takes a 70amp draw for like 50 milliseconds and so on, dunno if car audio fuses is the same or not its best to fuse for what your wire is rated for and then go threw a distribution block to your amps with fuses rated @ a little less than amps rated fusing, always worked for me its best to blow a few in your power wire than in your amp, if this is a comp car then a breaker might work but there not perminant as the same in a home, once the coil goes bad inside they will stick either open, or get hot and stick closed, and u would have to remove and to much hassle, i say fuse and /thread hope this helps here's a link to my system 99 toyota tacoma , 2 mtx 8000 1504's in a sealed downfire , 1000w memphis amp here's a link to my other system my 90 geo prizm test car heres a thread i got of new songs u can dl that are legal = Some Good Bangage/you Can Dl These Free And Legit
cjN
Use a fuse, i had a breaker before and my amps kept protecting. Popping and replacing a fuse is much easier. 2x sundown audio sa 12's Crescendo BC2000 kinetik 1800, 1400. tacomabanga1986
the reason people go breakers is, they are more for show cars that are not used much, and are easily accessible, and are faster to reset rather than replacing a fuse http://www.darvex.com/store/pc/XScorpion-300-Amp-Circuit-Breaker-56p140.htm for anything over 80 amps i normally run anl fuses anything 80 and under i use maxi or agu anl for main power runs, anl down to around 80 to amps, i like agu fuses for small amps cause they look cleaner in a way and are easier to manage, and are a tight fit, vs a maxi fuse that can wiggle around unless u have a terminal like rockford makes that has allen head setscrews to tighten down the fuse i hope im not drifting to far off topic with this, and hope that it has somewhat answered your question here's a link to my system 99 toyota tacoma , 2 mtx 8000 1504's in a sealed downfire , 1000w memphis amp here's a link to my other system my 90 geo prizm test car heres a thread i got of new songs u can dl that are legal = Some Good Bangage/you Can Dl These Free And Legit
