DD-1 using a 3sixty

Recommended Posts

I have a factory h/u---->3sixty.2------amps

I set the h/u by hooking the DD-1 up to the speaker outputs as mentioned in the manual.

Then, can I check the output of the 3sixty.2 by hooking the RCA cables directly into the DD-1?

Do I set the level of the 3sixty to maximum (not the input level but the output level in the x-over section) and then adjust down later if need be?

And of course setting the amp gain I understand.

Also, does it matter car running or not?

the 3sixty.2 has a line driver in it so you might not want to turn it all the way up to maximum. You will get distortion if you do that. (i believe)

Play zero db for the deck (to set it up), when done, leave it at zero db and turn the gains on the 3sixty up until the dd1 reads distortion. Then go do the amps and use -5 or -10db. If the output is still too much and you need to back it down, i would do so in the settings inside the software when you are communicating with it on the palm pilot (or computer).

so start with the settings in the software all the way up?

Forget that! I didn't read what you wrote first.

So start with the software levels not all the way up, maybe 3/4 up...

Adjust the gain knob on the outside until distortion free?

If by chance I can't get rid of the distortion light, then adjust the levels in the software down, right?

Yeah I will, I meant the level settings. EQ will be flat.

Ok cool, that is what I thought. That just means the level settings are all the way up and I wanted to make sure that was correct. My amps and 3sixty are under my seats and I can't get to the speaker terminals to take the speaker wires out or get to the 3sixty at all, without taking my seats out.

Just wanted to make sure I understood everything before I took my seats out, put them back in only to find out I didn't do it right :)

Thanks for clearing it up!

one more question, does it matter if the car is running or not? I don't know enough about how this stuff works to know that one.

it shouldnt really matter - but if you have engine noise of any kind, it may show distortion in the signal.

I tried it both ways, couldn't tell a difference in where the gain was set by looking at it.

But damn, I never knew how much noise I had in my system. I got everything set and turned it on and had to immediately turn the level down in the 3sixty software for my mids and highs. Took a TON of noise out of my front stage :) sub stage is louder and seems to have a flatter response too.

Overall, without any EQ'ing and am happier with how is sounds now. Took some pics I will post up later with this review also.
